Day Three

Chris Roberts

We prepared ourselves for rush hour traffic on Skye, setting off at 08:30 from Uig to Skye Weavers, 10 miles and 20 mins later we had passed one man on a bike and a lady walking her dog, it’s the kind of rush hour I wished faced me on a daily basis. Driving around these islands and into the Scottish highlands is such a treat and a real pleasure to be met at the end of every journey with another set of inspirational people.
Our visit today was a real education in weaving as well as a chance to get a glimpse into the life of a fantastic couple building a business powered by pedal. Skye Weavers have been producing woven and sewn products from their old croft house on Skye for three years now weaving everything on their loom driven by a bicycle. After a full tour and a go on the bike powered loom we had to say our goodbyes in order to get to Glasgow airport in time to drop off our film-maker who we are losing for a few days.

No matter how fast we drove we couldn’t escape the relentless rain which had spent much of the day as well as days previous flooding our campsite. Luckily we found a great little B&B on the shores of Loch Lomond to rest up before our full day in Glasgow tomorrow.
